If you’re new to JAC, here are some tips to help you plan your trip:

  1. First, locate the route and schedule that best corresponds with your destination. You can locate the schedule and route maps by clicking here.
  2. Depending upon where you’re going, you may need to transfer buses during your trip on JAC. The route map outlines transfer stops as well. Please note, transfers are free, but please be sure to ask your bus driver for a transfer.
  3. Locate the time JAC arrives at the stop where you will be boarding (note: JAC’s schedule during the week differs slightly from the Saturday schedule. The Saturday schedule is highlighted in gray).
  4. Read across the schedule to find out when JAC will arrive at your destination.

Welcome Aboard – General Bus Courtesy

The following are some tips to help ensure your maximum comfort and enjoyment when riding JAC:

  • Arrive at your bus stop before the bus is scheduled to arrive and check the bus stop sign to make sure your route is listed.
  • Make sure your bus pass or fare is ready (See Fares & Passes for more information.)
  • As the bus approaches, stand by the bus stop pole or bus shelter. For your safety, buses stop only at designated bus stops.
  • As you board, show the bus operator your bus pass or place the exact fare in the fare box. Please note that drivers cannot make change.
  • Please note that vehicles are equipped with lifts for disabled passengers.
  • Please sit down and remain seated during your trip.
  • Please remember the front of the bus is reserved for seniors and guests with disabilities.
  • For the safety and comfort of everyone, playing radios, cassette tapes, CDs, etc. without earphones; smoking; eating; drinking; and animals (except certified service animals) are not allowed on JAC.
  • Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Wheel Chairs

JAC buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts, as well as secured areas inside for one or two chairs. The driver helps secure all wheelchairs on JAC.

Strollers & Car Seats

JAC’s primary goal is to provide a safe, comfortable ride for passengers of all ages. Therefore, for our youngest passengers, we welcome strollers on JAC as long as they are collapsed, out of the aisle and in the guardian’s control during the ride. All children must be seated in a JAC seat while the bus is in motion, therefore, children may not sit in the stroller during the ride.

Bicycles

Each Fixed-Route JAC bus is equipped with a two-bike rack.  All bicycles must ride on the bike rack, bicycles will not be allowed on the bus.  Bike racks are available on a first-come basis.  For information on how to load and unload your bike please click here.

Getting off the Bus

  • One stop from your bus stop, let the driver know you’d like to exit.
  • Check to make sure you have not left personal belongings on the bus.
  • Please watch your step!
  • Please note that vehicles are equipped with lifts for disabled persons.
  • Be sure to obey all traffic laws such as using crosswalks. Additionally, DO NOT CROSS THE STREET IN FRONT OF THE BUS! Instead, wait until the bus has pulled away, and then cross in designated crosswalks.
