Our Environmental Health services are designed strives to protect and promote the health and welfare of the community through education, intervention, prevention, and assistance to people residing in or visiting our city so they can work, raise families, recreate and grow without the threat of food borne, water borne, or vector borne disease. The major focus areas of this effort are as follows:
· Food Protection Program that includes food establishment plan review, regulatory inspections which include mobile food vehicles, inspection of special events which include temporary food service, site specific specialized employee training, educational food safety outreach programs, certified food manager testing and required enforcement actions.
· Individual Sewage Disposal System Program that include plan review, site feasibility studies, regulatory inspections, sanitary surveys and required enforcement actions.
· Private Well Program that include plan review, site feasibility studies, regulatory inspections, sanitary surveys, and required enforcement actions.
· Public Swimming Pool Program which includes plan review, regulatory inspections, certified pool operator training and required enforcement actions.
· Visitor Protection Program which includes plan review, regulatory inspection and required enforcement actions for hotels, motels, RV Parks and campgrounds
· Invasive Body Decoration and Permanent Make-up Program, which includes regulatory inspections which ensure compliance with current regulations.
· Vector Control Program, whose mission is to protect the public’s health and well being through the prevention of human disease, discomfort, annoyance, and economic loss caused by vector species and vector-borne diseases agents
· Environmental Complaints Program, which includes a broad range of concerns relating to environmental health and related programs. Complaints can be registered by downloading our complaint form or calling Carson City Health and Human Services at (775) 887-2190 or by visiting our office between the hours of 8:00 A.m. and 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.
· General Environmental Program that includes liaison with federal, state and local government agencies, regulation of public swimming pools, tourist establishments, regulation of child-care facilities, and the investigation of environmental complaints. Included with this element are many training courses offered to the public in subjects pertaining to environmental health.
School and Child-Care Program, that includes liaison with federal, state and local government agencies, plan review and regulatory inspections.
