Carson City Human Resource Department's mission is to provide expert and advisory services to all City employees and citizens.  The Human Resource Department functions under the guidance of NRS 233B, 288, 281, 612, 287 and 354 plus Federal, State and local laws and regulations, including administering five employee labor contracts and personnel ordinances.  The Department handles all activities for 680 regular employees, 125 retired and 250 temporary employees.  The Employee Benefit Manager's mission is to provide the best health insurance coverage and benefits to City employees, their families, and retirees, at the lowest possible cost and to encourage health and safety among City employees through sound risk management practices.
