The Area
Nevada is a state of contrasts and wide-open spaces. It has been the fastest growing state for the last few years, but there will be plenty of room to move for a long time. Nevada is also our most mountainous state in the lower 48.
Located in the heart of the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains, Carson City, Storey County and Tahoe/Douglas are not your average place to live. From the arts to the cultural splendor, to the breathtaking views and unprecedented natural surroundings, Northern Nevada is rich in both tradition and entertainment.
Northern Nevada enjoys four mild seasons where the sun shines an average of 266 days per year. Our winters do bring an average of 22.2 inches of snow in the valley floor, much of it melting almost immediately, and if we don't think that is enough, we can go to Lake Tahoe and get all the snow we want. Our summers are dry, making even the hottest temperatures bearable. The spring is always beautiful and the fall is ablaze in beautiful hues of yellow as our aspens prepare for the winter. Ours is a high desert climate and we always have a steady breeze, though sometimes we really should call it a wind!
Lake Tahoe is capitalizing on its own natural assets - one of the bluest and most memorable alpine lakes in the world, as well as amazing mountains that are home to some of the world's finest skiing. Lyon County, the Carson Valley/Eagle Valley areas are among the fastest growing in the state and Carson City's downtown redevelopment has been notable. Storey County, the second smallest county in Nevada, has built a reputation on always doing things big-one of the biggest gold and silver discoveries in history and now, home to the United State's largest industrial park.
